To bring the Schick Hydro “Blast of Hydration” campaign to life, marketing agency Mr. Youth, sought a unique way to effectively raise awareness about the products with a concentrated focus on the college demographic.
The task included engaging consumers and generating exciting content for their ‘Hydro Experience’ Facebook page.
Mr Youth challenged 10 college campuses across the US to attempt to set a Guinness World Records title for the Longest distance travelled on a slip and slide in one hour.
For the 2010 Fall semester, American college campuses competed against each other for the record, promoting unity amongst each respective school and generating national visibility for the event series.
With the Guinness World Records Adjudicator in attendance, students at the University of Oregon took the reigning Guinness World Records® title with 82,000+ feet of slip and slide on October 8th 2010.
Brand research among Shick Hydro consumers and brand ambassadors confirmed that the Guinness World Records partnership greatly influenced event success and drove attendance.
Students echoed the sentiment that having an official Guinness World Records Adjudicator on site significantly added legitimacy to the competition and the overall appeal of the event.
The success of the ‘Have a Blast’ event series drove a substantial response from both local and national media outlets.
Over 10 million impressions were generated nationwide from TV, print and online coverage.
